Calvi is a commune in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the seat of the Canton of Calvi, which includes Calvi and one other commune, Lumio. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS The Citadel – A historic fortress overlooking the sea and the town, with narrow streets, old stone buildings, and panoramic views. August 15th Celebrations – Visit on August 15 and you will see one of the best fireworks shows you’ve ever experienced. Go to the main beach for the full spectacle; each year has its own theme. L’Eglise Santa Maria – Known locally as the “Big Pink Church,” this beautiful old-style Catholic church has an atmosphere and architecture reminiscent of Orthodox churches.
